Apabila Jorge Martin Tak Berhasil Menjadi Juara MotoGP Lagi

Jorge Martin, pebalap Pramac, kini berada di posisi teratas dalam persaingan gelar juara dunia MotoGP 2024. Namun, bagaimana jika dia kembali gagal meraih titel tersebut?

Untuk kedua kalinya berturut-turut, Martin berhadapan langsung dengan Francesco Bagnaia. Di musim 2023, pebalap asal Spanyol ini harus puas menjadi runner-up setelah disalip Bagnaia di seri-seri terakhir, dengan selisih 39 poin.

Namun, situasi kali ini berbeda. Jorge Martin menunjukkan konsistensi yang lebih baik, dengan tujuh kali finis di dua besar dalam delapan seri terakhir, dan hanya dua kali gagal finis sepanjang musim. Sementara itu, Bagnaia berhasil meraih dua kemenangan, tetapi juga mengalami dua kali gagal finis.

Dengan demikian, Martin saat ini memimpin klasemen MotoGP dengan keunggulan 20 poin atas Pecco Bagnaia. Persaingan antara keduanya akan semakin memanas di seri-seri krusial yang dimulai di Buriram, Thailand, akhir pekan ini.

Lantas, apa yang akan terjadi jika Jorge Martin gagal mengalahkan Bagnaia? Dia menjawab, “Memenangkan gelar juara dunia tidak akan mengubah hidupku… Ini sudah pernah terjadi, dan aku tidak mati,” ungkapnya dalam wawancara dengan Corsedimoto.

Martin juga mengakui bahwa dia dan Bagnaia bukanlah teman. Dia menilai Bagnaia memiliki keunggulan dalam hal ketenangan saat menghadapi tekanan.

“Teman? Sama sekali tidak, karena kami tidak memiliki hubungan seperti itu. Dia lebih tenang dan tidak impulsif. Dalam situasi tertentu, itu adalah kelebihan karena dia tahu cara tetap tenang dan menyerang saat diperlukan,” tambahnya.

“Momen-momen seperti itu sedikit lebih sulit bagiku karena aku lebih impulsif. Mungkin aku akan melakukan yang terbaik, tetapi harus membayar harganya di akhir balapan. Kurasa dia lebih unggul dalam aspek ini, apalagi dia adalah juara dunia MotoGP dua kali, yang juga menjadi pertimbangan,” tutup Jorge Martin.
